Wool and the Environment

I would like to tell you a little bit about wool and the environment. We have been using wool for centuries it is one of our most natural resources and is completely biodegradable, and is actually good for the environment. Wool does not shed plastic microfibres when it gets washed as polyester and manmade fibres do. Scientists have found no wool particle’s in our oceans when testing for pollution this is because wool completely breaks down and is compostable.

When turning sheep wool into fabric it uses less energy and water than other fibres e.g. 18%less energy than polyester and uses 70% less water than cotton. Because of its natural, renewable and biodegradable properties wool is also the most re used and recyclable fibre on earth of all fabric used in clothing.
